The Department of English was established in 1987. Ever since its inception, the Department has been playing a prominent role in the functioning of the College at various levels. It caters to the English Language needs of staff and students across verticals.

The Department conducts Classroom Seminars, Assignments, Group Discussions, Debates, etc. on topics covering syllabus and general interest to enhance students cognitive skills. Advance Learners are given Student Study Projects to enrich their aptitude for research. Slow Learners are counselled through the Remedial Sessions. Time-to-time, Field Trips are conducted to help students have hands-on experience of English Language and its usage.

From the academic year 2017-2018, a new market oriented course viz. B.A. in Journalism, Special English and Political Science was started. The Department provides employability skills to its students. It assists drafting letters of College and of general public in English Language.
