The Government degree college is established in the year 1987 in Chintalapudi West Godavari District. The college is affiliated with Andhra University. The college was sanctioned vide G.O.M.S.NO.313 Edn. Dated 15-12-1987.It is 35 years since then. In the beginning, B. A. and B.Com Courses were sanctioned in the year 1987, and B.A. Computer Course was sanctioned in the year 2013. M.A. Economics (P.G Course) was sanctioned in the year 2013.

The department of Economics including commerce had its humble beginning in the academic year 1987-88 under the Stewardship of Sri K. Nageswara Rao _{M.A, B.E.D} who was assisted by Sri R. Venkateshwara Rao _M.A, both Sri K. Nageswara Rao, R . Venkateshwara Rao Natured the department with meticulous care and Motherly affection. The Present glory of the department should be credited to them.

The vision of the department of Economics consists of Exploring the economic study and analysis, Policy farming and implementation issues faced by the Indian economy along with the analysis of other economics in the world the department thrives to reach standards of Excellence in Teaching, Research and consultancy the Department of Economics recognizes the growing demand for trained manpower in Industry government research and other sectors as well as nurturing future researchers and specialists in Economics. We try to meet this Demand in Committed Manner.
